This class covers a wide variety of issues Realtors and their clients may encounter that they need to be aware of so that the sale of a property is done safely, legally, and ethically. Some of the topics discussed include:

• Radon, Carbon Monoxide, and other life-threatening environmental hazards you cannot see
• How to determine if a property has mold, lead, or asbestos and if so, what options are best for your clients
• What you and your clients need to check in a home’s electric and plumbing systems before making an offer
• Buying and selling stigmatized, fire, and termite damaged properties
• What you see, smell, or taste that are signs a home may contain an illegal meth lab
• Resources available to identify properties that have registered sex offenders (Megan’s Law) or former illegal drug activity (DEA)
• What you and your clients should do before buying a property governed by an HOA

Your instructor is Dave Pleskac, a former KS & MO Realtor, real estate talk radio host, TV commentator, and real estate and home maintenance editor for a KC area homes and gardens magazine. Dave will pass along sound advice and tips he learned from federal, state, and county officials as well as home construction, remodeling, and repair experts who were guests on his radio show. He will also make you aware of many adverse materials facts and latent defects that may affect real estate transactions so you can better protect and promote the interests of your clients while helping to ensure an ethical and successful outcome for all parties involved.

Attendance: There is no "late arrival window" for CE classes.
